Paris: President Emmanuel Macron faced protests during the organization of the International Food Trade Fair in Lyon, France. In this fair, someone present in the crowd threw an egg at the President, after which there was chaos.
The video of the incident is becoming quite viral on social media. In the video, Macron is seen passing through the crowd and during this time an egg was thrown at him which hit his shoulder without breaking. Soon after, the President's Guards took Macron into the security cordon and the man who threw the egg was apprehended. No information has been given by the authorities about the identity or motive of the person arrested so far. In the video, Macron was heard saying that if the man wanted to say something to me, he could have come to me.
Earlier in June, Macron was slapped by a man in a small town in southeastern France while he was accepting a public greeting. After this, the person who slapped was sentenced to 4 months in jail. Like the previous presidents of France, Macron is often seen meeting people in the midst of the crowd.
Presidential elections are to be held in France during the next 6 months. However, no official announcement has been made yet on whether or not to contest President Macron's re-election.
